Wireless Internet Access Policy
The Pearle L. Crawford Memorial Library provides free wireless Internet access for library patrons with laptops and other portable handheld devices. There are three public access points, or “hot spots” within the building.
· Staff will not be responsible for configuring or troubleshooting problems with the patron's personal device. The library cannot guarantee that a patron's equipment will be compatible with the wireless network.
· Users should be aware that no wireless connection is completely secure. The library is not responsible for the safety or security of personal or confidential information transmitted over the wireless connection.
· The Library is not responsible for damage that may occur to any patron device while connected to the wireless network. This includes, but is not limited to, hardware, software, or data loss due to electrical surges, power loss, service interruptions, computer viruses, spyware, and/or any other type of computer malware. Anti-virus and security protections are the responsibility of the patron.
· The library assumes no responsibility for unattended, lost or stolen equipment.
· The Library's Internet access is unfiltered. Parents or guardians who want their children to have filtered access should purchase filtering software for their computing devices.
· Patrons may connect their wireless devices to any available electrical power outlet provided the cord(s) do not create a tripping hazard. Library staff shall determine what constitutes a hazard. Patrons may not unplug library equipment. Batteries should be charged before coming to the library as we cannot guarantee the availability of outlets.
· Printing is not available to patrons using the wireless network
· By choosing to utilize the free wireless connection offered by the Pearle L. Crawford Memorial Library patrons are agreeing to abide by the Library's Internet and Computer Use Policy. This policy applies to all wireless connections inside and outside of the facility on the Library's premises.
· Violations of the Pearle L. Crawford Memorial Library Wireless Access Policy will result in loss of access.
